Calvià: villas and local guide
Explore Calvià with our villa guide to Santa Ponça, Portals Nous and Port Adriano, plus Portals Vells, Finca Galatzó and Puig de sa Morisca.
Calvià spans Mallorca’s southwest from serviced bays and marinas to rural foothills beneath Puig de Galatzó. Choose Santa Ponça, Portals Nous, Cala Vinyes or the inland villages of Es Capdellà and Calvià Vila.
Calvià
Calvià is Mallorca’s large southwest municipality, extending from the Palma-facing coast through beach resorts, marinas and wooded headlands to the rural foothills of the Serra de Tramuntana. Its 18 localities include Santa Ponça, Cala Vinyes, Portals Nous, Bendinat, El Toro and the inland settlements of Calvià Vila and Es Capdellà. The coastal character changes notably along the municipality: Santa Ponça has a broad, serviced bay and an established sporting infrastructure; Portals Nous is shaped by Puerto Portals and nearby beaches; Cala Vinyes has a quieter residential resort feel; and Port Adriano in El Toro centres on a Philippe Starck-designed marina.
Inland, olive and almond land, estates and the silhouette of Puig de Galatzó give Calvià Vila and Es Capdellà a different tempo. The municipality also preserves Talayotic, medieval and maritime heritage, from Puig de sa Morisca to the caves and old quarry at Portals Vells.

Staying here
A private stay in Calvià can be organised around a stretch of southwest coast while retaining access to the inland landscape. Santa Ponça works well for families and groups wanting a large sandy beach, marina, golf and a broad choice of everyday services; Cala Vinyes is better suited to guests who prefer a quieter coastal base with coves and access to nearby dining and leisure areas. Portals Nous and Bendinat suit diners, golfers and marina-focused stays, while Es Capdellà and Calvià Vila appeal to walkers, cyclists and guests interested in the public Galatzó estate and village life.
Santa Ponça beach, the coves of Portals Vells and the beach at Portals Nous provide different coastal options. A car is useful, particularly for linking the coast with Finca Galatzó, Calvià Vila and Es Capdellà, although the municipality’s Passeig Calvià connects many urban centres on foot or by cycle. Spring and autumn pair walking with the April–May and October–November editions of La Mostra Calvià; summer is the season for beaches, water sports and the principal village fiestas. The trade-off is a dispersed municipality: the marina, beach resorts and rural interior each have their own rhythm rather than forming one walkable destination.
Towns, villages and coast

- Calvià Vila & Es Capdellà — The municipal seat and its nearby inland village provide the rural counterpoint to the coast: Calvià Vila has the Monday market and Sant Joan Baptista church, while Es Capdellà is a base for the Galatzó estate and surrounding paths.
